Peak 313 challenge and a new Challenge!

So it's Week 3 of the 21 days to a Hunger-Free {and healthy} Holiday! And this past week I didn't get to do it. But today is a new day! And here we go! I'm also doing a FYM Holiday Challenge and am getting excited can't wait to go home and workout. Working out during the Holiday seaSon is definitly a challenge, but I like challenges.

So this Final week in Peak 313 she is talking about the Bread, the bread of life Jesus. And here she is asking us this....

I’d love to hear from you. At what point in your life did you realize that Jesus was the bread–the fulfillment–of what you needed? How did that impact how you shared with others? How did that impact what you turned to to replenish your soul?

I remember one time in my walk about 8 years ago, that I truely felt that He was the bread of my life. I had just had my baby and my husband had just quite his job because he could no longer work due to a disability. There was no income coming in that would even meet all of our bills. What I had coming in was short term disability and for those of you who work and have had that it's only about a couple hundred a week mine was less than that. But what we had coming in different even measure to what needed to go out. My husband had just had his surgery I had just had the baby c-section, we were a mess and poor. But I knew that God would supply our every need, our food, our provisions. And can I tell you he did meet it and more. We would receive envelopes with generous offerings in it, without them even knowing our situation they just said God laid it on their heart. It was truely when I knew that God was our bread of life, He was the only one that could provide for our every need spiritual and physical. That was the closest we had been to the Lord, and I loved being that close to Him. I was able to share that with others to give them hope during their trying times. It was a blessing to share it with them, even the unsaved. God never seizes to amaze me, He always will provide for us. If He loves and provides for the sparrows how much more will He for us!

Blessings and thanks for stopping by!

Hi!!! I'm at it again & a Peak 313 Challenge

Hi!! I'm back....yes, yes, I know I took too long. I took a long 2 month break from this blog, it's been too long. I have been trying to get back into the swing of things but life gets way busy. We are some what settled down and I have been praying about getting back to working out on a regular basis and one of my favorite blog sisters is doing a challenge. So it's perfect timing for me! Thanks Clare for always being so faithful and a godly, encouraging example to me.

I  also started doing a new workout system that I think will work out best for me. I had one that just wasn't working for me. It quite frankly took too long, and I needed something that would give me more time with my family. So I found this lady that I've been following for the past 2 months and have decided to take on her challenges and program as well. I'll be sharing what that is later. So here's Clare's challenge from PEAK313 go to her website and check out the details. Here's the what it's all about.

21 Days to a Hunger-Free {and Healthy!} Holiday: Week 1-Sacrifice

She is asking us to make a sacrifice so you can SHARE with someone else less fortunate this season! Every time you choose to say NO to an unhealthy habit {sugared coffee} or YES to a healthy one, I want you to pay yourself! Put this money in a jar and at the end of the 21 days, you’ll donate that to a charity of your choice! (There are many local ones that are fighting local hunger, but feel free to expand to further organizations such as Samaritans PurseSkip1.org, and more) I’ve found that we are more apt to do something hard on our end, on behalf of someone else. It’s why so many people run races for cancer, or orphanages. We can justify our time and sacrifice if it means someone else can benefit from it!
For those of you who may not have extra money to set aside, you can use your time as currency! Volunteer minutes at a local food bank, write encouragement card to someone in need, or bring a meal to a hurting family! There is so much you can do!
Here are some ways you can “pay yourself”:
- Saying no to the speciality coffee shop when you are out Christmas shopping
- Stopping at only 1 piece of pie at your work Christmas party
- Refusing the cheeseball and crackers at 10pm whilst Christmas wrapping
The sacrifice doesn’t have to be food related either:
- Going to bed at a good hour instead of burning the candle at both ends
- Choosing “YES” to your workout instead of no because it’s too cold
- Keeping your daily time with God instead of allowing the hustle and bustle of the holiday to cut in

If this sounds like something you want to do, let me know we'll do it together!

Week 4 - Living and Active Challenge: Heart Healthy

Eeekk...sorry I'm late in putting this up. Well Week 3, came and went and i was undetermined. Barely worked out and barely watched what I ate. But this week 4 is a new week, fresh start {thank you Jesus!}.

I love our memory verse Clare has picked for this. Check out her website here for free printables and much more.

"Above all else guard your heart, for it is the well spring of life. "
Proverbs 4:23

Here is our challenge for this week: It's time for some self-inventory, she wants us to pray and write a response soemtime this week.
-Past: are there hurts, pains or words thta repeat over in your mind? Think back to your younger years...agaes 8, 13, 17..etc.
-Current: What current habits do you have now that are a reaction to your worries and hurts? Eating when sad? Retreating when hurt? Lashing out when angry?
-Furture: What future worries are you carrying that cause you to not live in the moment? Where do you have anxiety and unrest?

Worship Wednesday

I love this song.....His love never fails us. So assuring.....so true, so sure! He loves you and whatever you are going through He is going to see you through it. You may wonder why, but it's all for His glory and for His purpose. We may never know the why we just have to trust that He will see us through our circumstance. He makes all things work together for your good, remember that. Romans 8:28

Be blessed in knowing that, He's got this for you. Just trust Him.period.

"Keep Calm and Carry on God's got this!"

Week 3- Living & Active Challenge: Craving Conquerers

Week 3...already we are at week 3....times goes by fast when your having a blessed time. Last week I changed it up a bit, I felt that the Turbo Fire wasn't working out for me as I thought it would. And I have found a new workout plan that I am doing and already see a difference in a short amount of time and in shorter time periods. This will help me because I am a working mom and I don't want to devote 1 hr to working out everyday. I found a plan that I can cut the time by 3/4 and still do the same work for less time and not do it every day and still have better results. I will only need to do it 4 times a week. So this is best for my needs. I felt the other one just took to much time away from my family, and that wasn't my focus. Things that take too much time away from your family is not a good thing. Thank you Lord for showing me that, now if I was a stay at home mom it probably would have worked out better. I just really need to spend my time wisely, and needed something different. Don't get me wrong Turbo Fire is great and works for most people, just wasn't cutting it for me. So no hard feelings. There's my turbo fire update. I did love doing the HIIT 15, 20, 25 workouts. Short and sweet and got to the point. lol

I'm really excited to give this new one a try. Once I see results and am doing it for awhile I'll let you in on what I am using. It's actually a little bit of this plan and a workout my husband showed me to do that works outs yoru whole body at once.

Ok..now back to the challenge: Craving Conquerers....
This is a struggle for me so this should be good. Really looking forward to it. I love what Clare shares in her devotion...."We want to conquerer cravings because we don't want anything controlling or conquering us". AMen to that, but sweets are so hard to conquer. Another thing she said that struck a cord {good one}...."Cravings in our life--be it physical, emotional, or relational, are often a reflector of something lacking in our lives." This is interesting....so what am I lacking? I need to get to the bottom of this! Ok, so she says if we are craving sweets, we are often lacking from {the right} type of carbs. Hmmm...interesting....yay glad to know that.

I love this challenge she leaves for us.....
1. List your top 3 cravings {not just food oriented}
2. List when you have them {after dinner, after seeing a friend {?}, after work..etc
3. Are these cravings from the world? Are they coming from a sin nature? If yes, then commit to praying about them. Consider talking to a close friend about them.
4. If they pass #3, then manage the cravings. Take control of your cravings. Don't ever let them take control of you!!

So here's my top 3 cravings
1. Sweets
2. Sweets
3. Yummy Drinks loaded w/ tons of sweetness

Do you see a pattern? LOL

Blessings & Grace

Week 2 - Living & Active: Dedicated Daily

I've made it to week 2, by the grace of God...thank you Jesus! I love this weeks memory verse. This is a verse that is near and dear to my heart. Being a recovering worry wart, this verse helped me many times.

You can download this printable at Peak 313 here, I love it I printed it out and keep it close to my computer. She has some great info on her website, so be sure to go check it out.

Physical:
Well this week the workouts went good. I changed some things up a bit at the end of the week and incorporated running back into my routine. I miss running and since it's a little cooler in the mornings and evenings..it's time to start up again.

Spiritual:
I am in the word daily, first thing I do {this is just me, everyone is different}. And I started a new on-line bible study with Good Morning Girls, so that's very exciting! Last weeks memory verse is a good one.

Though one may be overpowered....satan loves to defeat us when we are alone
Two can defend themselves.........someone is there to help you and encourage you along the way
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.....having the Lord as center of it all is the best covering ever.

I'm excited for this week and all that it entails!!

God Bless your journey...

Adrienne

New Challenge and Update!!!

Hi y'all!!!

I've missed being on here and sharing my fitness journey....but I needed to take a sabatical from social media. I'm back now and am excited to share a New Fitness Challenge I joined! Wooho!!

Hop on over to PEAK313 and give Clare a visit and check it out.

Her goals and passion for this challenge is to get you into God’s Word which holds the keys to getting us Living & Active! I love it!

I love what she says in her spiritual goal section: "My faith lays the groundwork for everything I do and the upkeep of my body and health is included in that!" And I totally agree with this...this is why I started this blog to share this very thing. Our faith comes first then the stewardship over our bodies.

Here is a challenge goal, starting next week, she has laid out:

CHALLENGE GOAL: Memorize the new weekly verse/Soul Food (as well as maintaining prior weeks) and do the key challenge.

If you would like to join us go check out her website at the link above or here . I will be sharing every Monday my journey through this!!

Update on my fitness journey: I am still doing Turbo Fire, on week 6...woohoo!! My good eating habits are imporving. I definitley have seen a differnce in my endurance and strength. Although, I have been battling fatigue {more often} and joint aches {more often}. And I've managed to push myself through the pains of it, takes alot of determination. By God's grace...He is seeing me throught it.  I believe I have found out what all that is deriving from, what's the cause of me feeling so weak and fatigue all the time. Me finding this out has been an answer to prayer, because I'm tired of feeling tired all the time and my body feeling like it just can't anymore. I for sure thought that working out and eating healthy would help me. Which it has some what, some days are good and some days are worse. I've been to numerous Dr's over the years and have blood tests and for them to tell me it's just wear and tear or me getting older or it's normal. I just had a hard time believing that, I know my body and something is just not right.  I have been praying about it daily, more so now because it is affecting me more each day. And recently a very close friend of mine sent me some information, without her knowing what I really have been going through, about a particular thing I have. And it made sense it answered alot of my questions about my health.  I will share this on another post here or on my other blog ,when i confirm this may be the cause. But I have a good inclination that it is the cause. It seems its the only logical answer for me right now.  I will let you know when I do post it.

Praise God I am still able to do the daily exercises and eat better!! He is soo good!

Adrienne

Beauty Foods

I just read this at a juicing site last week. If you love juicing like I do...then you'll love these next beauty foods that you can add to your juices. God has created so many good things.
Beauty foods are foods that contain high concentrations of the minerals sulfur, silicon, zinc, iron and/or magnesium, David refers to the following as some of the best beautifying foods that you can include in your diet. These foods will have an alkalizing reaction with your body, anti-parasitical effects and contain high levels of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

In the list below you can see some of the top ‘beautifying foods’ recommended by David Wolfe his book ‘Eating For Beauty:
Aloe Vera – Believed to be a food of long-lasting youth and rapid healing. The anti-inflammatory power in acute inflammation is one of it’s best known actions. The gel of the Aloe Vera can be used topically or add to your daily juice.
Coconut Oil – Contains a number of health giving properties including being high in antioxidants, control blood sugar levels, assist the thyroid gland and repair the skin. You can eat it straight, blend into smoothies, use in cooking and on the skin.
Cucumbers – Fantastic for cleansing our bodies. The skins of cucumbers are high in silicon although are often grown with pesticides and waxed in stores so it is best to choose organic.
Figs – Super high in calcium and other minerals. They are also contain large amounts of fiber and therefore beneficial for our digestive system. They have been described as being the most alkalizing if all dried fruits.
Hemp Seed – One of the most nutritionally complete foods containing all nine essential amino acids making them exceptionally high in protein whilst also high in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and minerals. Eat them as a snack, add to a salad or use the hemp oil in your smoothie.
Macadamia Nuts – Contain high levels of selenium needed to build the body’s most powerful enzyme. The macadamia nut’s overall combination of fatty acids and zinc makes it wonderful skin beautifier.
Pumpkin Seeds – A wonderful source of B vitamins, many minerals (including zinc), phytonutrients and fatty oils. All of these contributing to their ability to produce clear and glowing skin. They also have anti-parasite properties.
Turmeric – Considered a restorative food, with strong anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-cancer and anti-microbial characteristics. Well known for its ability to purify blood which is essential for clear skin.
Source: Eating For Beauty by David Wolfe - For the complete description of these beautifying foods and to see the rest of the list have a read of David Wolfe’s book ‘Eating For Beauty’.

Adrienne

Week 2 {again}/Week 3

I have no video to post this week for the end of Week 2. I had a bad week all the way around last week, only worked out twice. I got a sinus infection and had other personal things going on. So decided to do week 2 over, do over! LOL....

Fitness: My waistline stayed the same, well actually I think I gained 1 inch. Yikes......oh well, yesterday I picked myself back up and got moving. Did HIIT 15 min video Turbofire and it felt so good. I actually didn't get tired though, I noticed I had better endurance, which is weird because I hadn't worked out since last week. I started Week 2 over, except for yesterday I was supposed to do Fire 55EZ but I couldn't bring myself to doing it, ended up doing HIIT15. But tonight I will be doing what's on the schedule and following through the whole week {LORDWILLING}. If nothing else comes up. Pray for me that nothing does. :)

Health: Or lack there of. I didn't really change anything, but probably added last week. I did juice about 2-3 times so that was good. I need help in this area....... :(

I will post an update video at the end of the week or the weekend. Thank you...stay tuned!

Turbo Fire - Week 2

Here's last weeks video, sorry I finally had time to make it bigger.

Week 2: End of week Update and Turbo Fire

End of Week 2 Update!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FgmNAIfFvk&sns=em Here's my YouTube video I am so excited because I finally received my Turbo Fire Kit yesterday!! Here she is!!
I should have took a better picture, this doesn't do justice.
There was soo much more, 12 DVD's 2 different stretch bands,
Meal Guide, Tip Brochures, and some other flyers and stuff
And yesterday I was able to workout to the HIIT 15 class, 15 min High Intense Intreval Training workout thanks to my sweet friend,  Cindy! OMGness...it was killer, but it felt so good afterwards. I am absolutely in love with this program. I've tried so many diets, workouts, weightloss programs, exercise programs. And nothing kept my interest or wasn't fun to do, or didn't make it easy for me. This program has it all laid out for you. It also came with a 5 day inferno plan if you want to kick it up a notch and lose up to 10lbs in a week. I might do that in a couple weeks once I get situated with this plan first. The Inferno also has your workouts, meal plans, step by step and day by day all laid out for you. There is no guess work involved, which makes it soo easy. And since I am a busy working wife and mama it's even better. The program also comes with a Meal Plan Guide, for everything else.

Now working at a Casino is not easy, they feed you for lunch and it's almost as good as a buffet, maybe worse. So when I don't bring my lunch I have no choice but to eat it ! Ugghhh, but I can't complain about that, because I choose to put what's on my plate. They do have a salad bar, so I just need to make better choices here and make my own meal plans for when I'm at work and forget to bring my lunch.

Exercise: This week I didn't do any Turbo Fire starter, except for yesterday {thursday}, other than that I speed walked for 2 miles on Tues and Wed. Not to bad, but now that my program is here, I plan on doing whatever day it says to do for the first week. But I feel great even today after doing that one workout. I feel my body tighting up already, I can feel my strength, feel stronger.

Food Choices: Ok well what can I say about this week, well I guess I fell off the wagon. I did try my best on 4th of July. I can say that I've been watching my portions. And trying to chew my food 20 times, and drinking water before I eat. This helps with food portions. They say to drink a full glass of water 30 mins before you eat. I will try that and see how that helps. I always overeat, hence the weightgain, and I usually choice the bad foods to overeat. Ummm...I still am having a hard time with sweets. But I am noticing that I am not craving it as much. Like I don't think about all the time, well maybe just yesterday. LOL. Today is a new day, let me rejoice and be glad in it!! It's a new start and I'm off to a great one, I turned down a bagel. Woohoo...that was hard, but felt good cause I turned it down. No bagel, no bagel! LOL

Here's my week 2 video update as well.

Week 1: End of the week Update

Sorry this is late, should have posted last Friday.

Whew....I made it through week 1, couldn't have done it without God's help of course.  Thank you Becca  for all your encouragement, your a doll!

Fitness:  It was hard week, and still is. But it's a little easier this week. I was able to workout everyday except for Sun and Monday. I was feeling very fatigue on Sunday and Monday and my body was telling me I needed to rest. I'm still waiting on my Fitness program it should be arriving anytime, that's exciting. So I am continuing doing the 40 min Turbo Fire starter workout.

Food Choices: I was good up until Sun/Mon, I made a few bad ones. But it's ok, this is only the begining, I can't expect overnight changes. I wish the cravings would just dissappear, but through prayer and crying out to the Lord, I know I can overcome this. I just need to be better prepared.

Thanks for your encouragement....

Great tips: For eating during the Holidays and Breakfast Recipes

I really liked what Turbo Fire emailed me this morning, they had some really great tips. Go here to read the full post ---->#000 - TurboFire Behind the Scenes and Breakfast Recipes

Please check out the recipes they have up above. With the 4th of July coming up and all the BBQ's and potlucks, this is really helping me to not feel so guilty or be hard on myself. But we can make wise choices, eat before you go to a gathering, drink lots of water while there. Munch on the veggies and fruit first. Also eat in moderation, God always makes a way for escape during our temptations. You can do this, through Christ's strength.

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Day 1: New Fitness Program and Healthy Choices

This is for Thursday, 06/28/12 (posted this late )
Day 1:

Healthy Choices: Whew.....so far this week I've been cutting down on sweets. But yesterday I really cut down and challenged myself to say "No". Even coming from church last night I had a challenge. I'm so used to going in the fridge and grabbin something sweet. So, I opened the fridge, like usual, but remembered "Hey! We are changing our eating habits and it starts now!" I kind of did what a little one would do when you tell them no they can's have somthing.."Hhhhmmmm". So I shut the door, opened the cabinet and remembered I had some kettle corn for kids from Fresh and Easy. They have no artifical flavors, colors, or preservatives, made with 100% whole grain and come in small packages. Only 65 calories and 2.5 grams of fat, and 3 grams of sugar. So not bad, it satisfied that craving. I was going for the frosting the first time, so glad I said No. But boy that was hard!

Fitness Program: I will be doing  "Turbo Fire", a sweet sis recommended it to me. Thanks Girl!! And I did some research on it and loved it! Chalene Johnson is the founder of Turbo Fire, Turbo Kick and Turbo Jam. I was really excited about it because there are so many transformation stories, from all ages and sizes. It's for everyone. They use the HIIT program High Intense Intrevals Training.

TurboFire Greatest HIITs: 20 Minute High Intensity Workout DVD
This morning I started her starter video, they send it to once you sign up to get you pumped for the DVD's before they arrive. I was only able to do 1/2 of it. But it's ok, it's a start right. I will be finishing it tonight. I'm really looking forward and can't wa it until it arrives. It will get my body in the mind set at what's it's about to embarq. Update: I did the whole video last night and it was amazing!!! My oldest joined me and she liked it to.

Learning to say No!!!

Learning to say No!!!

Why is it so hard to say no to those foods that look and taste sooo delicious, but are soo bad for you? Well I wish I had that answer for you but I don’t. But I know someone who can help you with the temptation. His name is JESUS, He is the author and finisher of our faith. When we are struggling with tempation the bible says in Phil 4:13 that “we can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens us.” And it also says that..."No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV

So the next time you are tempted with food call on the Lord and say "Lord this is too hard to bare." This food is tempting me right now, help me to choose to eat something that is going to benefit my body and not harm it. Then grab something healthy to eat. If you work or at home, make sure you have some fruit or nuts on hand to much on. Chug a glass of water, this also helps you fill full. After, you’ve prayed and asked God for the strength and grabbed a healthy snack you will see that you don’t crave or want that food anymore. Now if you still do, because it’s happened to me. Pray again, and continue to pray until the temptation is gone.

Yesterday night I was tempted by doughnuts and lollipops. But I had remembered that if I am going to change it starts now. It was hard at first, but i just thought at how much I will have to burn that off tomorrow. It wasn't worth it, and it was bad for me.

Adrienne

Updated my pages

I recently updated the pages so please check them out, when you get a chance. Thanks for stopping by!

My Faith and Health Journey

Welcome to "My Faith and Health Journey Blog"!! I started this blog to be able to share my journey with my health and weightloss and encourage others who might be going through the same struggles I have been going through all my life.

This will also help me stay accountable, it's different when you put it down. It's permanent, I'm tired of saying I'm going to do something and not follow through with it. I know I'm not the only one that struggles with that, especially in trying to eat right and exercise.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you come back soon! I love encouragement so any you can give would be great. Any tips or exercise routines or recipes please share.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:1-2

Adrienne
